Description of our Synthetic Putting Greens

We have created a synthetic surface that plays just like golf greens on the best courses, without the maintenance costs.
Created a synthetic surface:

We have a formula of installation, turf products, specific sand fill, and golf knowledge that creates a golf green accepted by some of the best golfers and many types of property owners.

Formula of installation:

We install a base that creates the foundation, shape, and playability for our projects.  To install a great green the base must be built in such a way that the factors of golf, paving, natural implications (i.e.: water flow), and maintenance must be considered.

Turf Products:

Through a great deal of trial and error, we have produce a synthetic turf, which when combined with all the other elements of installation, creates a golf green that performs almost identical to a Bent Grass or Bermuda Grass golf greens, whichever the owner prefers.  Just as a side note, our golf green turf comes with a five year limited warranty from the manufacturer to protect against degradation.

Specific Sand Fill:

The turf is filled with specific round sand that has been chosen to allow the golf ball to react on the surface just like it would on your local golf course.  This sand fill is off white to light brown in color and is lightly covered with a mixture of black and green sand to match the overall tint of the green within that particular area of the country.  In Florida or the southwest, less black and green mixture would be used to give the green a sandy brown dried out look.  In most parts of the country, the black and green mixture is applied so that it covers most of the original sand fill and produces a rich green golf green.

The particular sand fill is round so that it does not compact like the sand found at low tide on a beach.  It also is not loose like the sand found on the dunes.  The compaction properties allow the correct reaction of an approaching golf shot.  This reaction is known in the golf world as the green “holding” the shot.

Golf Knowledge:

This critical area of expertise will be the determining factor between a great installation and something less.  Our knowledge of golf spans over 20 year and covers many of the great courses and tournaments.

Acceptance by The Best Golfers and Most Accomplished Business People:

With over 50 touring professionals, leading multi-housing developers and leaders of Fortune 100 companies having installed sand-filled synthetic greens, no one can claim this surface, with its beauty and functional applications, is not going to make a huge impact on the golfing world.  To those of you who are golfers, you probably did not think much of “soft spikes” when you first heard of them, but now you cannot even find the old style spikes.  Our surfaces will have a similar impact.  We will bring many underprivileged golfers into the game since maintenance costs are so low and quality is so high.  We will also help make a dent into the average Handicap, which has not lowered since the system was introduced despite major advances in technology of the club and ball, because people will have easier access to practice their short game.

Plays just like the best golf greens on the best courses.

When we mention synthetic golf greens, most people don’t realize we have created a surface that does indeed hold a shot.  Just like natural golf greens, approach shots to our greens allow for the ball to stop on the surface.  Well-struck shots of any distance will be held similar to Bent Grass and Bermuda Grass Greens.

Speed and firmness can be altered on Natural Grass greens.  We wanted to create a surface that plays just like grass greens without the maintenance costs.  That is why the owner of the green has the ability after installation to alter not only the speed, but also the firmness of the green to match the playing conditions he prefers. Our greens can be as fast as championship tour greens or as slow as a municipal bermuda grass green in Florida; the owner gets to decide.  Our greens can be as firm as The U.S. Open, or play like a drenched public green.

We have created a surface that can play however you would like it and it can be altered to almost any specification.
Without the maintenance costs

The average golf course spends $15,000 to $20,000 per year per green.  Most of our greens can be installed for these prices and require very little maintenance.

Our Turf is manufactured without “Memory” in the fibers.  Memory is an industry term that describes the reaction in carpet when weight is applied then removed.  The carpet in your home has memory, so after you walk across the room, the carpet returns to its original shape.   When you move a piece of furniture after it has been in one place for a while, the carpet returns to the height of the rest of the carpet.

As stated before, we manufacture our synthetic putting green turf without memory on purpose to allow for the changes in firmness and speed of the greens.  So how does that affect the maintenance issue?  The fibers must be “Rejuvenated” so the surface does not become too firm or fast.  This is accomplished by brushing the fibers and then rolling the green to regain the desired firmness and speed.  This process takes about one hour and needs only to be repeated when the owner wants to slow the speed.

Other than the brushing and rolling, the only other tasks are to keep debris off the green and maintain the edges.

Conclusion

This process was designed to create a surface that truly plays like a great golf green without the maintenance costs and concerns that are present when dealing with real grass.  Our success can be measured in the acceptance by professional golfers and numerous amateurs who desired a fun convenient place to play and practice this great game.
