Frequently Asked Questions
How does the putting green surface play? The putting green actually rolls very similar to natural grass. Synthetic putting green technology along with the expert installation processes IntelliTurf employs when building your green will deliver a surface that delivers a true roll. The speed of the green can be altered and any undulation desired can be built so you will be enjoying all the aspects of a natural grass green without all the maintenance problems and expense. What holds down synthetic putting greens? Our surfaces utilize the benefits of sand-filled synthetic putting greens. The golf green surface is created using the latest and most advanced synthetic turf available. This golf turf is filled with specific round sand that allows the green to react just like a natural grass green when a golf shot is hit into the green. This specific round sand is placed down inside the turf fiber during installation. We install about 8 pounds per square foot of sand down into the fibers. The sand and turf fiber work together. The sand holds the turf down and the turf fibers prevent any washing of the sand during heavy rains. How does weather affect synthetic putting greens? Putting greens and all synthetic golf surfaces are manufactured with the elements in mind. We have built greens in the extreme north where snow covers our synthetic golf greens all winter and in the desert where putting greens are baked by the sun. No matter what climate you reside, our putting greens will provide you with many years of enjoyment. How much do putting greens and synthetic golf greens cost? Our putting greens, short game practice areas, and golf courses are all designed for the property and wishes of the owner. Each project is managed so that the installation meets the budget and shot selection of our clients. This process is similar to installing a swimming pool or tennis court. Putting greens and practice areas are built for years of use and enjoyment. Our prices start around $10,000.00 for small residential putting greens and can run into the hundreds of thousands for golf course projects. How long does installation take? Our putting greens are installed in a matter of days not weeks or months. Good weather always helps when building outside, but the typical installation of the synthetic golf greens is a fraction of the time when compared to natural grass. Practice areas and course projects need to install sod or grow grass around the green so that errant shots land on grass. For short chip shots and putting, play can begin the day your putting green is completed.
